About us.

We developed Inkpath to widen access to opportunity, raise aspirations, and encourage the development of people with a breadth of skills and experience, whatever their background. We work with you to deliver a solution which will not only fulfil your requirements, but also open up avenues you may not have considered or thought possible before. Each of our clients plays a role in helping to define our software roadmap and we have many exciting new developments planned!

The Inkpath story begins.

In 2013...

…our Founder and CEO, Dr John Miles, was working at the University of Oxford, and started the journey towards launching Inkpath. John was managing Oxford’s training programme for Humanities researchers and believed that the way researchers and universities can track professional development could be revolutionised with technology built specifically for them. John coded the first prototype of the platform, won some money through Oxford’s IT Innovation Fund to develop the idea, and got to work making it happen!

Oxford University spin-out.

In 2017...

…it became clear that the challenge Inkpath would address was being experienced beyond Oxford and across universities, professional associations and other organisations in the UK and beyond. So a university spin-out was born, and John spun out of Oxford himself to develop the company.

Going international.

In 2020...

…after taking time to develop a minimum viable product, Inkpath secured its first paying customers in the UK and almost immediately went international, starting with our first university partner in Australia.

Growing the team.

In 2023...

…Inkpath became a team of 10, and continued to expand our list of partners, working closely with them to develop Inkpath into the platform for researcher professional development. We’re proud of how far we have come, and excited to see what the future holds as we work with more universities and begin to work with other types of organisations in the UK and beyond!
